The Minnesota Lynx have dazzled fans with all-star performances, including two WNBA titles, in the last four years and they’re excited to continue their winning tradition with the 2015 season. In addition to capturing attention on the court, the Lynx are innovating their fan experience off the court as well, starting with the purchase of a ticket.

“Our fans are the sole focus of our efforts as an organization, and we’re actively working to evolve as their needs change,” said Chris Wright, president of the Minnesota Lynx and Timberwolves. “Beyond providing them with world-class entertainment and athleticism, we need to provide them with world-class solutions that make their engagement with us memorable. That’s why we partnered with AXS Ticketing.”

Innovating the fan experience

From a business standpoint, the Lynx needed a ticketing platform that gives them the flexibility to create ticket offers and packages that are relevant and timely for their fans.

“We’ve been limited in our ability to customize our ticket packages and promotions, but the insights and flexibility provided by the AXS Ticketing platform enable us to create and communicate unique ticket offers that are based on our fans’ behavior and what is meaningful to them,” said Wright.

The Lynx also wanted to give fans more convenient options to manage their tickets, including the ability to resell tickets and exchange them through their online account. With Flash Seats®, the AXS Ticketing platform’s digital, ID-based ticketing technology, Lynx fans now have the ability to buy, sell and transfer digital tickets online or through the Flash Seats mobile app, without the hassles of traditional paper tickets. Also, Lynx fans will simply swipe their ID at the venue gate or have the usher scan their Flash Seats mobile app when entering games.

“Flash Seats best positions us to keep up with our technologically-savvy and environmentally-conscious fans,” said Wright. “From data capture to understanding fan engagement and everything in between, digital ticketing provides us with ways to serve our fans that didn’t exist for us before.”

The Lynx will be the first WNBA team to adopt Flash Seats digital tickets, joining other innovative professional teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston Rockets, Utah Jazz and Denver Nuggets.

Elevating their fan-first culture

In addition to the Lynx, the Minnesota Timberwolves will begin the 2015/2016 season with the AXS Ticketing platform and will offer their fans Flash Seats, too. Wright, who oversees both organizations, looks forward to continuing to enhance the teams’ fan-first reputation.

“It’s important for us to provide our fans with convenient and secure ways to manage their tickets. The AXS Ticketing platform will help us ensure that fans buying, transferring or selling Timberwolves/Lynx tickets through our site or Flash Seats will never be turned away at the gate for having fraudulent tickets,” said Wright. “We will be poised to offer not only great entertainment, but also a great fan experience – from when they purchase a ticket online to when they enter our arena and watch the game. This comprehensive fan approach is what will drive our success.”
